Another great motor. I received my new 66cc motor (a stealth jet) and installed it on a mountain bike for my brother's wife. My bros and I have it down to less than 2 hours installation time. This is our 4th motor. It started up instantly. It idles and runs perfectly. I'm so happy, that I ordered another motor, a 50cc, for my niece today. It should be a real challenge to install it on her 20" BMX, but it can be done! Keep up the good work.

I recently purchased a new muffler for my 80 cc motor after the end cap fell off the old one. Web site was a little tricky to figure out for payment but after 3 phone calls I got it straightened out. Thanks

I bought my first motor last october and have been riding ever since. Within the last year I have noticed alot of upgrades with these engines. Sure some of the engines have had problems but generaly anything that happens could have been prevented. Keep up the good work ZOOM

Have had several orders and was happy the quick shipping, pricing as well as answering my questions in a reasonable time period. The only issue I can say was a time or two the packaging could have been a liitle better as damage could have occured to the parts but fortuneately did not. Will continue to shop here!

Barry Lee wrote us on 02 September 2009:

I ordered a Jet Stealth 80cc black engine on July 30th 2009. It arrived in exactly 7 days. (nice) Since this is my first engine kit I can't comment on whether or not it is any different or better than other kits. However, it came packaged pretty well, and all parts arrived un-damaged. I took my time installing the kit (which is not that difficult if you have some basic tools), All together I probably spent about 6 hours mounting the kit (stretched over three days). One thing to note, if you need to change the length of the chain (strong possibility) you will need to get a chain breaker. One is not included in the kit. While the instructions were not always clear, they were still enough for me to get the kit mounted on my bike with no real issues. The only thing I found that was required, that wasn't really emphasized in the install guide, was to file the teeth of the sprocket (to make them more pointed) so the chain wouldn't jump off the sprocket when spinning. After I filed the sprocket and was happy with the result (the chain now stays on the sprocket when pedaling) It was time to try and start her up! It took me a few tries to get it going, but it eventually came to life. After some quick tweaks of the throttle cable and idle screw, I found a happy place where the engine would idle fine and without any throttle input. NICE. I've put about 120KMs on it so far, so I'm still being easy on it. But no problems at all so far. Just the fun-factor alone, it's worth the price. Especially the looks you get from people. They are just baffled. They hear what almost sounds like a chainsaw or a weed whacker, but they see a bicycle. And they always have this confused but amused look on their faces...priceless.

Keith Powers wrote us on 02 October 2009:

Bought 4 head studs and a lower end gasket for the 49cc engine. The head bolts were too short by 8 or 9mm, and the gasket was folded and broken at one spot. I managed to get everything working by making my own studs (using 6mm High Strength steel allthread)and fix the gasket (gasket sealer), but it's still a really disappointing way to waste 17 bucks for those items. It was of my own stupidity to begin with, though. I went to torque the head down a bit more, since it was so loose from the factory that you could see that the head gasket wasn't sealing anything, and I ended up over-doing it to the point one of the studs broke. The engine runs fine now, though, and it even idles pretty good (where it wouldn't idle at all before...thanks to the gaskets sucking). It's been an interesting project, but I'm pretty happy with where it's at finally. At least these guys are brave enough to offer this kind of stuff for sale, and for that I thank them.

Allen James wrote us on 04 January 2010:

Im working on the my project the stretched beach cruiser with a 80cc stealth engine. i havent used it yet because of the modifying needed, but everything ive had bought like forks and such has always needed some modifying. which is the fun part for me. the bike is looking awesome and cant wait to ride it. but the assembly and installation of the kit was very easy to put together. i had to order two extra chains, due to the length of the bike, which required two and a half chains to fit. all is left is modifying the exauhst pipes length and it will be ready to ride. all in all - very happy with the engine.

Don Ferguson wrote us on 13 May 2010:

My first but not last motor conversion and I found it went real well. There were a few minor challenges but I found the kit to be excellent and for the dollars spent very rewarding. The bike is a blast and runs very well! The service and communication from zoombicycles is stellar and prompt! I am very happy overall with the whole experience. Can't wait to start another!

Chris Crew wrote us on 16 July 2009:

The service was excellent, shipping swift, sure and free. Took me a long weekend and half of another to bodge everything together. My son wants to build one to take off to college with him, so expect another order soon.

David Hunt wrote us on 19 March 2009:

In general, I bought one of these (66cc) because they looked like something that could give me a boost up a hill and help me to keep from feeling so exausted after a long bike ride as I get older. Boost is an understatement. My old 18 speed mountain bike roars. It is really great for zipping through marginal parts of town quickly. It will have a bit of trouble with steeper hills unless you pedal along. I am an engineer so installation was easy because I have insite to the mechanisms and have designed similar systems. Not sure how it would be for the average joe but the instructions were well formatted and there is enough on line information to fill in the gaps. Once you get it together and running it is \"Bing!\" every time you drop the clutch. The tough part will be to keep your wrist from doing the full throttle when you are trying to break it in. These kits rock.

Hi I bought the 80cc kit around 3 weeks ago as a project and put it together on a mountain bike. I had to do a little home made engineering to the frame by welding an half piece of pipe at an angle so the front engine mount sit properly on the frame. I have so far 3/4 of tank of gas burnt so it's getting break in. I tried it for a short time full open and I got 47 km. if I would hold it there I figure that I would get close to 50 km. I like it and can't wait for the engine to be break in. It start and runs very well, even up hills it carry me, and I weight 180. I wounder what it can do with the racing carburator and 40 teeth spocket??? chris

I have purchased a 49cc kit as well as the 80cc jet stealth kit from zoom bicycles. They both arrived at my door very quickly! the 49 was your average engine like offered by many companies but the kit included components better than other companies i have bought from. the throttle and grips were better and many parts included are considered additional/upgraded parts you pay extra for with other companies. The 80cc stealth is a great engine for frames that dont have have alot of space...I have found it hard or impossible to fit other 80cc s into smaller frames/ custom frames but the stealth slant design makes it work. This 80 is great on the steep hills in my area and looks really nice in the black it came in.

Thank you ZOOM for the EXCELLENT ENGINE KITS and WONDERFUL customer service! I have ordered engine kits from others in the past when I first started building these bikes, but now, I am buying from ZOOM exclusively! Your engines are the SMOOTHEST running and most POWERFUL out there! The kits come nicely packaged so there are no damaged parts! The clutch and throttle cables are just the right length and I appreciate the extra length on the kill-switch wire so I can put the CDI box wherever I want it. I have recieved 9 engine kits from you so far and I am very happy with your product and your customer service people are VERY helpful, professional and polite...you should be very proud! Thank you. I purchased your 80cc back in October of 2009, I've had a few problems like running into Deer at 30mph, yeah, it's funny, go ahead and laugh, cause I do, lol. I haven't really had any problems with the motor at all, except for the Bevel Gear broke into 3 peaces. I ordered the new part, but.... the gap on the new Bevel Gear wasn't wide enough for the Woodruff Key to sit properly, so I had to spend HOURS with a small enough file to widen the gap so that the Key would fit properly on the Crankshaft with the Bevel Gear. But all in all, the motor is fun on my Mountain Bike.... the cops still don't know what to think of it, they keep trying to find something, but they never will. Lol. Thanks for a great product, keep up the great work!!!!

Months has gone by and the quality of service has never wavered. I had a problem (MY FAULT) and they came thru. The one thing that stood out to me is; and frankly impressed me was the fact that they are persistent on issuing out perfect service. To this very day they still answer my boring e-mails.I can't say enough good things about ZOOMBICYCLES.

I wanted to try a different mode of transportation to get back and forth from work instead of using my van 5 days a week for a 70km round trip. I bicycled a few times (with just pedal power) and it took me 1 1/2 hours one way - a little too much exercise for me and too much time out of my day. I've purchased the 65cc engine kit and used that. Now I can get to work on my bike in 45 minutes and I'm still useful when I get off the bike ;) PS: You REALLY do need the bottle of lock-tight when you put it together - those vibrations really can do some interesting things in loosening up vital components! I'm very happy with it though - it's fun and cheap to run. Gary Lockhart from Colpitts Settlement, NB Canada

Your home site was sold out of 68cc motor kits, but I was able to buy one from your Ebay store. What luck! Great, fast shipping again. 3 days to my door. This is our 8th zoombike. I painted this motor yellow; it goes on a blue Schwinn delmar cruiser, with a white and yellow gas tank. I bought 4 Monkeylectric wheel lights for this puppy. My zoombike will light up the streets! I am checking out a bike my neighbor has for sale, for my next project.(when you next motors are in stock. Thanks for the fun!

I received a 49cc slant head kit within a week of ordering it. It was easy to install on an old mountain bike I had and fired up the first try. I was surprized at the power from the small engine. Also, in spite of the 16:1 oil mix, no smoke at all. Here in Texas, I should be able to drive it all year.

Well my 1st motor kit was a 80cc which was delivered within a week but my last order took just over 2 weeks and then it was missing the fuel filter just had the flat 44tooth sprocket and not the beveled one you get with the 80cc model. Otherwise the motors are great and to remove some of the vibration I have added a thin rubber gasket to the engine mounts.

This is our 5th motor kit. It was shipped to me in 2 days(wow); I installed it on a cute little BMX with 9 inch highrise handlebars and a 24 inch banana seat for my 8 year old niece. After installation(2 and a half hours), I choked it and peddled it 30 feet, and it fired up instantly. Just like all the other motors. The 50cc does't have quite as much power as the 68cc but it is still just great. Alexandra, my niece drove it around the block and only stalled it once; She loves it! My brother, Robin and I went to the video store on our bikes(I drove Alexandra's BMX)tonight, and a guy asked where we bought our motors-We said Zoombicycles! Thanks again.

Dawn Ryan wrote us on 30 September 2009:

READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY! My name is Eric and I can honestly say this product SUCKS! All the hardware that comes with the kit is garbage. The engine studs break off easily, the clutch lever is made of junk and it will break when you install it. My exhaust pipe cracked clean in half at the weld. My engine has oil all over it from leaking gaskets. And the list goes on. I'm contacting my credit card company for a full refund. Save your money. Don't buy from this website, or you'll have to buy all new replacement parts somewhere else anyway. Good idea for a product, but bad execution. I give this product three thumbs down. ***** Follow up by Team ZB : Mr. Eric Amptmeyer, We at ZoomBicycles do everything we can to help our customers, as we understand the challenges that can come with a hobby like motored bicycling, especially on a first install! We offer phone support, and a forum on our website for information and troubleshooting. During our initial phone conversation, I felt that you were indeed at a disadvantage, having had no previous experience with a bicycle engine kit. I sent a replacement engine, and before doing so, suggested replacing the studs with hardened steel, which you agreed was a good idea. You also confirmed that the motor was indeed mounted firmly to the bicycle, which we both know keeps the studs from twisting, and subsequently, breaking. It was clearly outside our warranty policy to send a replacement engine free of charge, as we normally ask our customers to return defective units before sending out replacements. However, in this case, I felt I should do the right thing and help out a frustrated customer however possible. You sent pictures of the original motor with the broken studs, which I thank you for. Upon receiving these photos, I immediately sent a replacement motor to you at our shipping expense, and at no additional cost to yourself. I received an e-mail shortly thereafter, thanking us for the replacement engine. You had let me know that you had purchased hardened studs from a hardware store, and that the installation would be complete in a day or so. A few days later you sent an e-mail informing me of a defective clutch handle and exhaust muffler, which would have been replaced free of charge to you. Afterwards, you requested a full refund for the products, which is offered by our company. It is unfortunate that we are unable to meet your expectations, despite our efforts to assist you in resolving this matter, and at this time, if you wish to return the products to us, we will see that a full refund is offered. I bought the black 80cc kit for my nishiki and accidentally filled it with regular motor oil instead of two-stroke oil (I'm an idiot). After cleaning the engine the thing came to life though. To anyone who has never assembled the kit before: USE LOC-TITE THREAD LOCK (it is essential, especially on the engine mounts.) Also, DO NOT INSTALL THE SPRING ON THE CLUTCH CABLE. This will cause the clutch lever on the handle bars to break, as the 80cc motor clutch already has plenty of built in resistant.
